The purpose of this site is to help search for my relatives
My name is George Peterson. I have, at present, a genealogy database, which contains over 11400 individuals. Of these, 913 are Petersons, 1615 are Peaveys, 55 are Coughnets and the remaining are in some way related to at leas one of these.
At this point my oldest known ancestor, on the Peterson side, is John Peterson of Duxbury Plymouth Co., MA. I have not been able to find out how or when he arrived in Duxbury. He Married Mary Soule, daughter of George Soule who came to the new world on the Mayflower.
The source of my information is other Genealogist, the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS), Alden Kindred of America and personal interviews of older family members of my Family At this time I am most interested in finding other Descendants of John Petersons. The NEHGS and the Alden Kindred Search Project have done a great job through 8 generations. This brings us from the Mayflower to the middle 1800’s.
I have joined the DNA study groups on both Ancestry.com and Familytreedna.com. I would encourage others who whish to find family members also get tested. Both of these identified my Paternal Haplogroup as I1 (The Stonemasons). I was able to connect with two cousins and expand my database of family members.
I am related twice each to George Soule and John Alden of the Mayflower. Both my father Howard Peterson and mother Alleda Peavey are related to them. I have provided links to relationship charts. See Links table below.

I am using RootsMagic as my database, for documenting my family tree. This software is also very good at producing reports such as relationship charts, pedigree charts, family group sheets etc.
For security and privacy reasons I will not release any information on any living relative other than myself.
